Ida Louise Meyer, age 94, a former resident of Fort Scott, Kan., and more recently of Springfield, Mo., died Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Manor at Elfindale in Springfield. She was born Dec. 2, 1920, in Redfield, Kan., the daughter of Will Russell and Grace McKinnis Russell. Ida Louise graduated from Fort Scott High School Class of 1938 and later from Fort Scott Junior College. She taught school in the Bourbon County School District before going to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as an agent telegrapher. Ida married John Kelly in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1968. She later married Clarence Meyer in 1975. Ida and Clarence enjoyed many years of traveling to RS Prussia Conventions and Shows where they collected many beautiful pieces of the very rare china. They made their home in Fort Scott until the year 2000 when they moved to Springfield to be close to her family. They resided at the Cambridge Retirement Community until the past year when she and Clarence resided at the Manor at Elfindale in Springfield. Clarence preceded her in death on Jan. 19 of this year. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Delbert Russell, one sister, Marie Todd and a nephew, William Russell.
