Tiger boys seeded 5th, girls 8th
Fort Scott High School's boys drew the No. 5 seed while the girls will be seeded eighth at the Frontenac Raider Kansas National Guard Invitational, which begins Thursday.
Fort Scott's boys were seeded with a record of 5-3 and will take on Winfield (6-2) at 7 p.m. Thursday night in the old gym at Frontenac High School. The girls (1-7) will follow with an 8:30 contest against Oklahoma City-Classen School of Advanced Studies (12-2) in the same facility.
Both Tiger teams finished fifth last season in this tournament, which is in its third season. Two-time defending boys' champion Oklahoma City-Douglass will not return while defending girls' champ Webb City, Mo., will be the No. 5 seed this season.
If the boys win, they'll face the Prairie View-Nevada winner Friday. If the Tigers lose, they'll face the Prairie View-Nevada loser.
If the girls can score the upset, they'll play the Prairie View-Webb City winner Friday. If they lose, they play the Prairie View-Webb City loser.
Altough the bracket distributed by Frontenac High School has game times and gyms set for the entire tournament, an information sheet stated that it's possible game times and locations could be changed if there are conflicts.
The finals will be played Saturday with consolaiton games in the old gym and championship games in the new.
