Animal lovers can support the animal shelter by attending the first Pup-tober Fest Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Fort Scott Community College walking trail. The fundraiser will include a variety of activities and is designed to help raise money for a new, larger play and exercise fenced yard for the dogs.

All animal lovers are invited to attend and support Lee's Paws and Claws Animal Shelter for its first Pup-tober Fest to be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Fort Scott Community College Walking Trail.

This will be a major fundraiser to help raise money for a new, larger play and exercise fenced yard for the dogs.

There will be a variety of activities during Pup-tober Fest, beginning with a blessing of the animals at 11 a.m.

A pet costume contest will be held with an agility run for the dogs, mascot photos, a bounce house and slide for the children, goody baskets and concessions. Homemade baked items will be sold, as well as newly-designed shelter T-shirts.

There also will be animal adoptions, with micro-chipping, rabies or parvo shots available that will be reasonably priced for the public.

A live auction for an assortment of quality donated gifts will take place at 2 p.m. A pet ID micro-chipping will be given away.

In case of rain, the event will take place at the FSCC Arnold Arena.

Parking for the event will be available at the First Nazarene Church.

Those who are unable to attend but would like to help can mail donations to Lee's Paws and Claws at 721 240th St., Fort Scott, KS 66701. For more information, contact the shelter at 223-2888.
