Brown takes second at West Franklin

POMONA -- Uniontown's Kyley Brown shot a personal-best score of 51 over nine holes and won a scorecard playoff to finish in second place at the West Franklin Invitational here Thursday.

"She just started golfing this year and has really come around and I have some high expectations for her," Eagle head coach Jason Tourtillott said.

Kaylyn Crystal received the final medal as she finished in 12th place with a score of 62. Dani Crook of Carbondale-Santa Fe Trail won the scorecard playoff and was awarded 11th place.

"Kaylyn is showing a lot of improvement from last season and should have shot better," Tourtillott said. "She just had a few holes give her some trouble."

Laryn Thompson shot a 72 for Uniontown while Draven George shot 75.

As a team, the Eagles finished fifth with a score of 260. Rossville was the winner with 227 followed by West Franklin with 245, Council Grove 250 and Meriden-Jefferson West 255.

Jordan Carlson of Council Grove was the individual champion with her score of 46. Makayla Crow was the loser in the scorecard playoff with Brown and was placed third. Fourth went to West Franklin's Stasha Curtis with a 55.

The Eagles will play in an invitational at Parsons Monday. Play is set to begin at 3 p.m.
