Junior golf season concludes
The recent Southeast Kansas Junior Golf season concluded Thursday at Oswego. For those who have been following junior golf, this is not a part of the Kansas Junior Golf Association series that's also being conducted this summer.
On June 19 at Chanute's Stone Quarry course, Nicholas King finished in second place in the boys' 11-12 year-old division, shoowing 43 over nine holes. Cole Wheeler of Chanute was first with a score of 41.
One June 23 at Parsons Country Club, King won the boys' 11-12 division with a score of 40, one stroke ahead of Oswego's Jack Leake and two ahead of Wheeler.
Lauren Madison tied for third place in the girls' 12-14 year-old division at Chanute with a 73. But a scorecard playoff went in the favor of Parsons' Jelly Gonzalez, bumping Madison to fourth place.
Finally, at Oswego, King won the 11-12 age group with a score of 37 with Wheeler in second place with a 43.
Madison was third in girls' 12-14 with a score of 64. Jessica Brooks of Oswego was the winner with a 53 and Katie Campbell of Oswego was second with a 57.
In team play, Oswego won the league championship for the third consecutive season.
