Fort Scott's Woodland Hills Golf Course hosted a Kansas Junior Golf Association southeast area tournament June 18 with two local youths participating.

Nicholas King won his age group, the 12-13 year-old division, by shooting a 78. The next-best finisher, Jack Watkins of Burlington, finished 10 strokes back and Cole Wheeler of Chanute finished third with a score of 92.

In the 12-13 group, which had five players, players shot from the red tees on the course, the ones set closest to the hole.

The 16-and-over age group, which included Fort Scott High student Conner Antonetti, used the tournament (blue) tees. Antonetti shot an 87 on the day, which was in the middle of the 14-player division. Kaden Macha of Iola won the division with a score of 74 followed by Matt Perry of Gas with a 78. Chase Coble of Emporia and McKinnon Burns of Burlington tied for third with scores of 82.

In other divisions:

* Drayton Cleaver of Chanute won the 11-and-under division with his score of 55 over nine holes. Ethan Warner of Girard was second with a 60 and Hayden Newton of Altoona was third with a 72.

* Bradley Beykirch of Pittsburg won a scorecard playoff for the 14-15 year-old division's top spot after he tied with Girard's Spencer Warner at 83. Trevor Watson of Coffeyville was third with an 87.

There will be two other southeast tournaments, one at Pittsburg and the other in Coffeyville, with the golfers scoring the most points going on to higher levels of competition.
