Karleskint

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Fort Scott native Doug Karleskint, a 1998 graduate of Fort Scott High School, was named the head coach of the University of Central Missouri's men's basketball program on Monday.

Karleskint played football, basketball and baseball at Fort Scott High School and also played basketball and baseball at Fort Scott Community College. He also served for a short time as an assistant coach for the FSCC men's basketball program.

Karleskint comes over from Arkansas Tech University, where he was 90-34 in four seasons as head coach. The Wonder Boys won their conference and made NCAA Division II Tournament appearances each of his four seasons. Arkansas Tech advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2012.

Karleskint takes over a Central Missouri program that won the NCAA Division II National Tournament last season. That earned former Mules head coach Kim Anderson, who was named the head coach at the University of Missouri in late April, creating the vacancy that UCM chose Karleskint to fill.

Karleskint previously served as an assistant at Division I Stephen F. Austin and was part of staffs that took the Lumberjacks to NCAA and NIT appearances. He graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University. He was a graduate assistant coach at Northwest Missouri State from 2005-07.
