Betty Jean Fetterly

Betty Jean Fetterly, age 84, resident of Tulsa, Okla., died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the University Plaza Nursing Home in Tulsa, Okla. She was born July 30, 1929, in Blue Mound, Kan., the daughter of Edward and Blanche Powell Noggle. She was a graduate of Fulton High School, Fort Scott Community College and Pittsburg State University College of Education. She was united in marriage to Donald D. Fetterly on June 7, 1951, in Fort Scott, Kan. The couple lived and raised their family in Devon, Kan., until they moved to Lamar, Mo. Betty began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse until the county consolidated and then she taught first through fourth-grade at Eugene Ware Elementary School until her retirement. She loved to teach and enjoyed her students. After she retired, Betty and Don enjoyed traveling and going to the casino. They had a full life together and enjoyed it tremendously.
Survivors include two daughters, Dawn Garrett and husband Larry, Jasper, Mo., and Lesa Perkins and husband Billy, Broken Arrow, Okla. Seven grandchildren, Jessica (Bohlken) and Joey Amico, Hawaii, Travis Garrett, Jasper, Anthony and Karlee Garrett, Lamar, Mo., Max Bohlken, Tulsa, Okla., Wade Johnson, San Diego, Calif., Joseph Garrett and Ashley Garrett, Jasper. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald, in 2012, and her brother John Noggle.
