Eagles drop pair to No. 4 Humboldt

HUMBOLDT -- Uniontown's baseball team dropped both games of a non-league doubleheader to Humboldt here Thursday evening. The Cubs, ranked No. 4 in Class 3A by the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches, won the opener 9-0 and the second game 12-2.

Uniontown fell to 6-9 on the season and has lost six straight games.

The Eagles' only hit in game one came from the bat of John Kuns. The Eagles had just 3 hits in the second game, one each by Jacob Duffy, Ethan Hale and John Emmerson.

Both of Uniontown's runs on the day scored in the top of the third inning of the second game. Emmerson singled with one out and Duffy tripled to right field to plate the first run. A groundout brought Duffy in with the other run.

The Eagles host Chetopa at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the final home and Three Rivers League doubleheader of the season.
