Fort Scott Community College's baseball team broke a five-game losing streak but still only came away with a split against Kansas City Kansas in a make-up Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division doubleheader at Lions Field Monday.

The Greyhounds won the opener 5-2 but lost the nightcap 3-2.

Kansas City scored both its first-game runs in the top of the first inning. Fort Scott got one of those back in the bottom of the frame when Kolby Greenslade singled home Lance Barkley, who had led off the inning with a double and moved to third on a passed ball.

Sam Gilbert singled to center with one out in the bottom of the fourth and moved to second on a passed ball. Parker O'Dell followed with another single. Then Zach Taylor's sacrifice bunt scored Gilbert to tie the score 2-2.

Dalton Rook and Mike Sielinski followed with back-to-back 2-out singles. Barkley brought both runners home with a double to left.

Barkley had two hits, both doubles, and Rook also had two of Fort Scott's 10 hits. Eric Hinostroza was 2 for 4 for Kansas City.

Fort Scott scored the first run of the second game. Josh Griffith's double to left plated Barkley, who singled to lead off the bottom of the first and then stole second.

Kansas City tied the score in the second and went ahead in the third as four of the Greyhounds' five errors in the game aided the Blue Devils.

Fort Scott tied the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth. Doug Jenkins walked with two outs, moved to second on a ground out and scored on Griffith's single.
