FSCC Spring Rodeo begins today at Arnold Arena

The Fort Scott Community College (FSCC) Rodeo Team is hosting the 33rd Annual Spring Rodeo today through Sunday at Arnold Arena onthe FSCC main campus.

Events start at 7:30 p.m. today. There are two performances on Saturday, at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the FSCC Rodeo Team will honor the late Ryan Rickman, a former teammate who was killed in a storm-related car wreck in November.

On Sunday the all-around will start at 1 p.m.

FSCC has approximately 40 rodeo students competing in the upcoming rodeo.

"The team has done really well this year and the FSCC rodeo team would appreciate the community's support," assistant rodeo coach Cali Griffin said. "Currently, our men's team is third and our women's team is ninth in the Central Plains Region."

Among the competitors, Austin Graham of Jay, Okla., is first in bareback, David King of Hartville, Mo., is fifth in bull riding and Jaice Cross of Fort Scott is fifth in breakaway in the Central Plains Region.

As a fundraiser, the FSCC Rodeo Team is selling chances to win a quarter beef. This is all-natural beef raised by Kolby Stock. Tickets will be available at the rodeo, as well as sold directly from each rodeo student.
