John Oscar Schubert

John Oscar Schubert, 74, of Uniontown, Kan., died Thursday evening, Feb. 20, 2014 at the Fort Scott Manor Nursing Home. He was born April 28, 1939 in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Ira Edward and Doris Elizabeth (Likely) Schubert. He married Betty Culbertson on Dec. 11, 1974 in Uniontown, Kan., she preceded him in death on July 1, 2011.

He is survived by four brothers, Charles Schubert and his wife, Lora, of Americus, Kan., Roger Schubert and his wife, Lorene of Enid, Okla., Don Schubert and his wife, Janice of Mound City, Kan., and Walter "Dick" Schubert of Walnut Grove, Mo., as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Louis Schubert and Gary Schubert, a sister, Ruth Keith, a nephew, Russell Schubert, and a grand niece, Cherie Edmiston Schubert.

Following cremation the family will receive friends Sunday evening, Feb. 23, 2014 from 5 until 7 p.m., at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at 10:30 a.m., at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospitals.
