Fort Scott Firefighters presented a demonstration on fire safety Wednesday to Joyce Davenport's Fort Scott High School Culinary Essentials class. Members of the Fort Scott Fire Department set up a kitchen prop at the high school practice field to demonstrate a potential fire hazard. Cooking is the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries, with unattended cooking the leading contribution factor in home cooking fires, according to information provided by FSFD Lt. Dave Bruner from the US Fire Administration.
