Osawatomie, Ottawa take down Tigers

OTTAWA --Fort Scott High School's wrestling team lost both duals in a non-league triangular here Tuesday night. The Tigers lost to Osawatomie, 39-33, and host Ottawa, 45-32.

Four Tigers won both their matches in the dual. Jacob Durossette, ranked No. 1 in his weight class in Class 4A by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association, pinned both Osawatomie's John Deideker and Ottawa's Sam Carver at 145 pounds to improve to 20-2 on the season.

Jerad Heckman (26-6) also pinned both his foes, Osawatomie's Noah Newcomb and Ottawa's Sharissa Daw, at 126. Chris Stell (6-11) pinned Will Thompson of Osawatomie and Wade Gragg of Ottawa in 132-pound matches. And John Hughes (22-8) recorded a pin over Osawatomie's Andy Blanton and a technical fall over Ottawa's Brayden Streeter in a match that ended with an 18-2 score at 160.

Fort Scott, now 5-4 in duals, trailed Osawatomie 15-0 after three matches before Heckman and Stell got their pins.

Durossette's pin of Deideker brought the Tigers within 18-15. Hughes' pin of Blanton tied the score at 21-21 and Jessie Hodge's pin of Gavin Badders at 170 gave Fort Scott a 6-point lead.

Ottawa won the next three matches, two by pin, including Tanner Foulk's stick of Chance Crawford. Foulk is ranked No. 5 in Class 4A at 285 by the KWCA.

Ottawa won the first match of that dual by forfeit but the Tigers won the next match by forfeit. Then Cole Stewart defeated Drew Nutt in overtime to give the Tigers a 9-6 lead.

Heckman and Stell's pins made the leas 21-6. Ottawa's Brandin Bell pinned Cole Hilker at 138 but Durossette's pin over Carver made it 27-12.

Hughes' technical fall over Streeter made it 32-18. But the Cyclones won each of the five remaining matches, one by forfeit and three by pinfall.

There were also several junior varsity matches held. Results against Osawatomie were as follows:

* Wyatt DeHaven lost to Kirana Diediker by an 11-8 score at 120.

* Also at 120, Thomas Nighswonger won in overtime over Diediker,

* At 160, Casen Edwards pinned Trevor Haslip.

* Also at 160, Trenton Sinn pinned Edwards.

* At 170, Jeremy Smith was pinned by Seth Kingsolver.

Results versus Ottawa:

* At 126, Nighswonger was pinned by Jaden Creach.

* At 160, Hazlip was pinned by Donavan Perry.

* Also at 160, Sinn was pinned by Dustin Stewart.

* At 170, Jeremy Smith won a 23-10 decision over Christian Fast.

The Tiger varsity squad will be back in action at 6 p.m. tonight at Frontenac.
