FSMS teams end season with three victories

PARSONS -- Fort Scott Middle School's girls basketball program completed its season here Monday night with wins in three of the four games played.

The eighth-grade "A" team took a 26-17 win to finish the season with a record of 12-2. The Tigers outscored the Vikings 13-6 in the second half.

Kharsyn Dwyer scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds to lead Fort Scott. Kelsie Nelson added 7 points and Jenny Denton had 8 rebounds.

The eighth-grade "B" team won 11-2 after a 2-2 tie in the first quarter. Samantha Race scored 6 points for the Tigers, who finished 7-0.

The seventh-grade "A" team won 41-38 to finish 12-2. Abby Humble scored 20 points in the victory.

The seventh-grade "B" team lost a close one to Parsons, 13-12. Kelcie Bailey led Fort Scott with 5 points. The Tigers ended the year with a 4-3 record.

While the girls' season is over, the boys begin practice this week as they get ready to open their season January 9 with home games against Pittsburg.
