M. Gertrude Moore

M. Gertrude Moore, age 98, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at the Guest Home Estates in Fort Scott. She was born Dec. 16, 1914, in Mountain View, Mo., the daughter of Charles Thomas Allen and Eunice Naomi Smith Allen. She married Timothy Mac Moore on June 7, 1933, at Nevada, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1973. She was a member of the Church of Christ at 15th and Crawford. In earlier years had been active with the AARP and Bourbon County Senior Citizens. She enjoyed quilting, working with flowers, reading and camping.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Lambert and husband, Jim, Fredonia, Kan., Sandra Hartzfeld and husband, Bob, Bartlesville, Okla.; a son, Benjamin Moore and wife, Carol, Riverton, Kan. Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Moore, Augusta, Kan.; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jack Moore; a daughter and son-in-law, Janiece and Pat Toms; a grandson, Mark Davis; five brothers; and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12th at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
