Chester Louis Picht

Chester Louis Picht, 86, of Chanute, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Louis was born in Fort Scott, Kan., on Sept. 1, 1927, the son of Daniel and Albertina (Mitzner) Picht. He attended Fort Scott High School.

He was a member of the American Legion in Chanute.

After living several years in California, he moved to Altoona, Pa., then to Chanute in 2003.

He married Carol Jeanne Lego in Fort Scott in 1951.

Louis was a Merchant Marine and Navy Veteran of WWII.

Louis is survived by his daughter, Amy L. Taylor and husband Ken of Yucaipa, Calif.; sisters Patty Giacoma and husband Joe of Chanute and Betty Jo Pinckney of Springfield, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie; his father and mother; and a brother, Earl "Buster" Picht who was killed in WWII.

There will be private family services at the Fort Scott National Cemetery at a later date.
