Eighth grade splits with Indy

Fort Scott Middle School's eighth-grade teams split with Independence Monday night at Buck Run Community Center. The "A" team lost 22-12 while the "B" team won 13-12.

Reports from the seventh-grade games were not available at press time.

The eighth-grade "A" team led 6-5 after one quarter but were unable to score in the second. After three periods, Independence led 22-10.

Madison Cook scored 4 points and grabbed 7 rebounds for the Tigers (6-1), who suffered their first loss of the season. Kelsie Nelson also had 4 points and brought down 4 rebounds.

Fort Scott's "B" team (4-0) led Independence 5-4 after one period and 7-4 at the half. The Tigers held on even though the Bulldogs outscored them, 6-4, in the fourth.

Jenny Denton and Morgan Carr each scored 4 points for the Tigers. Carr also had 4 rebounds.

This was the last home game of the season for all of Fort Scott's teams. The seventh- and eighth-grade "A" teams will play at Uniontown Monday with the first game getting underway at 5:30 p.m.
