Clara Mae Bruner, 78, Topeka, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at Brewster Place.

Clara was born Dec. 21, 1934 in Stark, Kan., the daughter of Chester and Naomi (White) Ludlum. She graduated from Uniontown High School in 1952. She was employed with CoreFirst Bank & Trust, where she worked until 2007. She was a very active member of First Christian Church, where she sang with the choir and helped with Vacation Bible School.

Clara married James O. Bruner on April 11, 1954. He died in 1984. She was also preceded in death by a son, David James Bruner, in 2010 and a brother, Cecil Ludlum. Survivors include a son, Richard Bruner and wife, Edye, Louisburg, Kan.; granddaughter, Kimber Bruner, Louisburg, Kan.; two sisters, Janette Mabry, Gravois Mills, Mo., and Barbara Ludlum, Shawnee, Kan., and one brother, Joe Ludlum, Uniontown, Kan.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 at First Christian Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Clara will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel on Thursday until 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, 1880 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66604.
