Eagles split with Wildcats

YATES CENTER -- Uniontown's baseball team picked up its first victory of the season here Tuesday as it took game one of a non-league make-up doubleheader with Yates Center.

The Eagles (1-11) took game one 11-6. Yates Center won the nightcap 14-4 in 5 innings with the aid of a 10-run fifth.

Uniontown scored 5 runs in the first inning of the opener. They also added 3 runs in the fourth and again in the fifth.

Jon Kuns struck out 6 Wildcats (1-13) in getting the win on the mound and also went 2 for 3 at the plate. Jary Harp was 3 for 5 while Jacob Duffey and Austin Collins each had 2 hits. Collins drove in 4 runs.

Uniontown had only 4 hits in game two, from Harp, Duffey, Devonte Robinson and Brodrick Glessner.

The Eagles play a make-up doubleheader at Bronson against Erie today to conclude the regular season, provided the field is dry enough to use.

Uniotnown will be the No. 5 seed in the Yates Center Class 2-1A Regional next week, just ahead of the host Wildcats. The Eagles will face fourth-seeded Lyndon (7-13) in the first round at 3 p.m. Monday at Yates Center.
