Tiger girls fourth at Girard Invitational

GIRARD -- Fort Scott High School's girls finished fourth in the Girard Optimist Club Invitational here Monday while the boys finished 12th.

The meet was originally scheduled for Friday but postponed due to rain.

Pittsburg's girls won the team title by 64 points over Grove, Okla. Webb City, Mo., was third followed by the Tigers.

Jillian Lattimer was Fort Scott's only winner as she threw the javelin 117 feet, 1 inch. Lattimer was also second in shot put with a mark of 34' 10" with Brianne Lawrence fifth at 33' 4 1/2".

Katren Rienbolt finished second in both distance races to a runner from Grove named Warner. Warner won the 1,600 meters in 5:16.62 with Rienbolt in second in 5:25.02. The Grove runner took the 3,200 in 11:17.96 with Rienbolt second in 11:48.90. Paige Denton, returning from a groin injury, was seventh in the 1,600 in 5:51.00.

Rienbolt has not lost to a Kansas Class 4A runner this season. She finished second in both races at the Pittsburg State Relays to a runner from Olathe Northwest, a Kansas Class 6A school.

Fort Scott's 4x100-meter relay team of Michaela Webb, Maddie Barbour, Elisha Hasenplaugh and Keaira Meadows took third in 53.45 seconds. Hasenplaugh, Webb, Barbour and Rienbolt were on the 4x400 relay that was fifth in 4:40.56.

Webb took fourth in the 400 meters in 28.16 seconds. Meadows was fifth in the 100 in 13.35. Lawrence was sixth in discus at 103' 3". And Hasenplaugh took seventh in high jump, clearing 4' 10".

On the boys' side, Chris Allen was the Tigers' best finisher, with a second-place mark of 159' 10" in javelin. Casey of Colgan was the winner at 161' 8".

Austin Sather was sixth i the 400 meters in 55.32. Weston Woodring tied for seventh in high jump at 5' 8".

Fort Scott's teams travel to Chanute Friday.
