Dorothy Webber, age 89 of Osawatomie, Kan. died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Life Care Center of Osawatomie. She was born March 12, 1924 to John Edward and Cora Priest Dalton in Mapleton, Kan.
Dorothy, an only child, grew up in Mapleton, Kan. and attended grade school at the White School District #24 and graduated from Fulton High School. She attended one year of college at Ft. Scott, Kan., and in her younger years, worked as a secretary. On Sept. 23, 1944, Dorothy was united in marriage to Wilbur Webber in Mound City, Kan. They purchased a farm in Linn County, Kan. in 1949 where they lived until moving to Missouri in 1986. Together they sold ladies apparel in several states until 1997. She attended the Methodist Church in Centerville, Kan.
Dorothy enjoyed playing the piano, especially at church in Centerville and also played the piano on the radio in Ft. Scott, Kan. Spring was her favorite time of the year when the lilacs were blooming. Other pastimes included playing cards, shopping, sewing, watching TV and visiting. Dorothy loved to drive her car everywhere and enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband. Christmas was her favorite holiday. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great enjoyment.
Dorothy is survived by three sons, Gary Webber and wife Shirley of Paola, Kan., Harold Webber of Lone Jack, Mo. and Ronald Webber and wife Leta of Holden, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Wilbur in 2008.
Graveside services for Dorothy Webber were Sunday, April 21, at Mapleton Cemetery in Mapleton, Kan. with Gary Schowengerdt officiating.
