Greyhounds open baseball season

PITTSBURG -- Fort Scott Community College's baseball team opened its season by taking advantage of the FieldTurf facility at Jaycee Ballpark here Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday, the Greyhounds defeated Southeast Nebraska, 3-2, in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader. The second game was cancelled when rain arrived in the area.

The artificial surface allowed Sunday's doubleheader to be played as scheduled. Southeast Nebraska won the opener, 15-5, while Fort Scott claimed the second game, 13-6.

Tuesday's scheduled game at the Ottawa University junior varsity has been changed to Wednesday at 1 p.m. The Greyhounds will play at Jaycee Ballpark again this weekend with 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday doubleheaders against North Central Missouri.
