Fort Scott Church of the Nazarene member Troy White helps put the finishing touches on the Common Grounds Coffee Company, 116 S. Main St., in downtown Fort Scott. In the background is Tim Gayman, Nevada, who is am employee of Pat Woods Construction, Fort Scott. White was helping install the big screen TVs and sound equipment. Gayman was working on competing the coffee bar. The coffee shop will be an outreach of the church to the area youth, said White, "a bridge between the Keyhole (youth center) and adulthood ... a place to hang out. It will have coffee, wi-fi and live music." "We're having a sneak peak next week for church members. The first week in February we'll have a soft opening," Jeremy Culbertson, youth pastor at the church, said in a phone interview. Cheryl Skyles moved here from Kansas City to take the job as coffee shop manager.(Loretta George/Tribune) [Order this photo]
