Karen Sue Hall, age 67, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died unexpectedly Saturday evening, Jan. 19, 2013, at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan. She was born Jan. 3, 1946, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Jesse Wagner and Blanche Hart Wagner.

Sue was a 1964 graduate of Fort Scott High School and a 1966 graduate of Fort Scott Community College. She received her teaching degree from Pittsburg State College in 1968. She married William D. Hall on June 28, 1968, in Fort Scott. Sue retired in 2008 following 38 years teaching in the elementary school at Pleasanton, Kan. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She loved her monthly meetings with the retired teachers, playing Sudoku and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; two sons, Mike Hall and wife Stephanie, Olathe, Kan., and Mark Hall of the home; two sisters, Pat Pearson and husband Ken, Emporia, Kan., and Pam Pollock and husband Dick, Leawood, Kan. Also surviving is her mother-in-law, Marge Northrop, Fort Scott; and three grandchildren, Devin Hall, Zane Hall and Kinley Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Bertha Ann Melcher, brother-in-law, Alvin Melcher and niece, Elizabeth Melcher.

Rev. Jared Witt will conduct funeral services at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Brain Injury Association of Kansas and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O.
