Memorial services for Frances Jean Typer, 77, Lawrence will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence. Private family burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence. She died on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at Presbyterian Manor.
Frances was born on Dec. 15, 1935 in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Goodrich and Edna (Longley) McCain.
She graduated from high school in Fort Scott and attended Fort Scott Community College.
She worked for the Western Insurance Co. in Fort Scott and Wichita. In Hesston, she worked as an insurance agent for Friesen Ruth Typer.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Scott, Hesston and Lawrence. She was also a member of Phi Beta Phi in Wichita.
She loved music and enjoyed dancing in her youth.
She married Donald R. Typer on April 1, 1956, in Fort Scott and later divorced.
Survivors include two daughters, Kim A. Ens, and husband, James, Lawrence; Jennifer K. Burdett, Fayetteville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Nick Ens, San Francisco, Calif., Jesse Ens, Lawrence, Diedra and Nicole Burdett, Fayetteville, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kenny.
The family suggests memorials in her name to the Lawrence Presbyterian Manor-Good Samaritan Fund, Visiting Nurses Hospice, or Multiple Sclerosis Society-Mid-America Chapter and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
