Stephen Dale Sisk, 76, of Joplin, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at his home after a battle with mesothelioma. He was born March 11, 1936 in Licking, Mo. to Virgie and Utah David Sisk. They preceded him in death.

He married Nadine Joy Butler on Oct. 8, 1958. She survives of the home.

Stephen was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Gardeners Bay and USS Boxer from 1955 to 1959. He received a good conduct medal and an honorable discharge for his service.

He also was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Dale Sisk II, three brothers, Harold, David and Gerald Sisk; and a sister, Geraldine Westall.

Additional survivors include three sons, Brian Sisk, of Sorrento, La., Brent Sisk, of Arizona and Ken Sisk, of Duncanville, Texas; two daughters, Laurie Sisk, of Fort Scott, Kan., and Angela Sisk, of San Diego, Calif., five brothers, Olen Sisk, of Maine, Bob Sisk, of Texas, Jack Sisk, of California, and Byron and Myron Sisk, both of Joplin; six grandsons; six granddaughters and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Parker Chapel in Joplin. The family received friends following the service at the mortuary.
