UNIONTOWN -- Uniontown's girls ran into a Frontenac team that was hitting on all cylinders and wound up falling 60-23 Friday night at home.

The Lady Eagles didn't get their first points until the 4:10 mark of the first quarter, unable to break the Raider press. A rash of turnovers due to the pressure led to easy baskets inside and the visitors ran off the first 11 points of the game.

Senior Lauren Rockhold broke the drought for the home team before Frontenac reeled off the next 13 points of the quarter. Senior Amelia Brown put in a follow shot with 10 seconds showing for Uniontown to close the period at 26-4.

"We didn't handle their press very well," Uniontown head coach Dustin Miller said. "And that caused us to forget our fundamentals. We've just got to keep practicing that until it becomes part of our muscle memory."

The visitors managed the first 10 points of the second quarter before junior Lakyn Coyan connected with 2:54 showing in the half for the home team. That sparked a surge by the Eagles as DaNIsha Robinson put in a rebound basket and Coyan hit another follow before Frontenac closed with the final three points for a 42-10 edge at intermission.

Bailey Flora had 10 points and Ryleigh McCartney seven to pace the visitors at the break, who often subbed five players at a time throughout.

Uniontown stayed fairly even in the third quarter as Robinson worked inside for six points during that time. She scored back-to-back baskets for the hosts, to close the margin to 50-18 with 2:49 left in the frame.

The Raiders managed the final five points of the quarter to go into the final period with a 55-18 edge.

The teams swapped points to close out the game.

"We kept working," noted Coach Miller of his team's never-quit attitude. "We never lack effort."

Robinson finished with 10 points to lead the Eagles. Coyan added four, Jamie Dawson three, and Rockhold, Brown, and Mandie Ridge two.

Flora finished with 12 to lead Frontenac.
