David F. Knackstedt, age 68, a resident of Fort Scott, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at the Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott, Kan. He was born Aug. 31, 1944, in Council Grove, Kan., the son of Don Harvey Knackstedt and Alta May Knackstedt.

He married Martha Huggins in 1965 at Olathe, Kan. David had worked in construction and as a pipe layer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as making wooden yard ornaments and furniture.

Survivors include his wife, Martha, of the home; four children, Deliah Wilson and husband, Bob, Linwood, Kan., Jaynette Bohnert, of Kansas City, Kan., David Michael Knackstedt, of Fort Scott, Kan., and Lloyd Dewayne Knackstedt and wife, Lory, also of Fort Scott. Also surviving are a brother, Gary Knackstedt, Gardner, Kansas; two sisters, Debby Rhodes, Gardener, Kan., and Star Knackstedt, Portland, Ore.; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Paul, Dennis, Johnny, Bruce and Mike Knackstedt and a sister, Patty Chanel.

Pastor Larry Stevicks will conduct funeral services at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Visitation will follow the funeral service until 6 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the David Knackstedt Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, Kan., 66701.
