Cobalt Medplans announces several local management team promotions

Tony Pino, president and CEO of Cobalt Medplans, a subsidiary of Cobalt Venetures, recently announced several promotions within the company's management team.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our employees for an unbelievable growth year at Cobalt Medplans," Pino said in a news release. "Indeed, the Cobalt Medplans employee base has increased from one service center and 34 employees on Jan. 1, 2012, to two service centers and 144 employees on Dec. 31, 2012. As a direct result of our growth in 2012 and anticipated continued growth of an additional 50 to 75 employees in 2013, I find it appropriate to make the following promotions and additions to responsibilities, all effective January 2013."

Micheal Bryant has been promoted from director of operations to vice president of operations. All areas of the company, with the exception of finance, business development and client relations, will report to him. Bryant joined the company in June 2011. His background in business process improvement and project management has been vital in growing the operation, ensuring effective processes are in place to manage the growth.

Doreen Bennett has been promoted from client relations manager to director of client relations and business development. Her responsibilities are being expanded to include new sales. Bennett joined the company in January 2012 and works out of the corporate Kansas City location.

Deb Needleman has been promoted from human resources manager to director of human resources. She has been with the company since May 31, 2011, and has been instrumental in recruiting, hiring and onboarding 119 new employees in a six-month time period, the release said.

Hali Smith's role as financial director has been expanded to include procurement and facilities management. Smith joined the company in June 2011 and works at the corporate Kansas City location.

Needleman

Tonya Piatt has been promoted from training supervisor to manager of training and quality assurance. Piatt joined the company in July 2011. "During her tenure, she has supported training efforts for all training needs of the company's current clients. Her hard work and dedication to training and quality will continue to make Cobalt Medplans successful as we grow," the release said.
