Knights of Columbus set free throw competition

Thursday, January 3, 2013

Knights of Columbus Council No. 796 will sponsor the Free Throw Championship for youngsters age 10-14 at 10 a.m. Jan. 12 at the John F. Kennedy Gym, 705 S. Holbrook.

All boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition.

Sponsored annually by the Knights of Columbus, winners advance through local, district and state competitions. The local contest will determine who moves on to district.

Last year, Kansas sent two participants to the International Championship. International champions are announced by the K of C headquarters based on scores from the state-level competitions. All boys and girls will compete in their respective age and gender divisions. Since its beginning in 1972, more than 2.5 million youngsters have participated in the contest.

All contestants on the local level are recognized for their participation. Participants are required to furnish proof of age and written parental consent. For entry forms or additional information, contact Scott Flater at (620) 223-2762 or (620)224-7384.
