The Uniontown Junior High Student Council and more than 30 junior high students worked this fall to raise money for the annual Christmas Present Shopping Trip. By helping at our Football Senior Night Tailgate BBQ or selling trash bags, these students were able to raise over $700 to sponsor 31 children for The Beacon Christmas program. On Wednesday, Dec. 12, they went shopping at Wal-Mart for their gifts and wrapped them. Teacher Sara Jackman wrote, "They really enjoyed the experience and tried very hard to budget their money in order to purchase as many gifts as possible for each child. I was really proud of how seriously they took their task and how focused they were during their shopping." Council officers delivered the gifts to Community Christian Church in Fort Scott Tuesday. The students would especially like to thank everyone who supported their fundraisers.
