Edward Lee Umphenour, age 90, Pleasanton, Kan., passed away on Sunday Dec. 9, 2012, at Prescott Country View. He was born on July 27, 1922 at Pleasanton, the son of Walter and Anna Belle Ralph Umphenour. He was a Pleasanton High School Class of 1941 graduate. He married Katherine Dunavan on Dec. 24, 1942. She preceded him in death on Dec. 8, 2005.
Also preceding Edward were his parents, a brother Melvin, and a son Wayne in 1969. He was a member of the Pleasanton First Christian Church, formerly serving as an elder, Pleasanton Saddle Club, former school board member, and was involved in 4-H.
He is survived by four sons: Edward Lee Umphenour and Jeannie, Gary Umphenour and Sheilah, Randy Umphenour and Robin, and Kevin Umphenour and Debi, two daughters, Deanna Fuhrman and DeWayne and Kristie McKee and Paul, a sister Cleda Fern Murray, 31 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday Dec. 15, at the Pleasanton First Christian Church. Burial will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory Pleasanton Chapel.
