Seven named All-SEK in soccer

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Southeast Kansas League coaches recently named the All-SEK Soccer team and put seven members of the Fort Scott High School team on it. Six Tigers were also named to the All-Region Team.

First Team All-SEK players are Chase Howser, Brett Allen, Roger Rodriguez and Austin Sather. Weston Woodring, Marcus Brennon and William Bush were named to the Second Team.

Rodriguez, Howser and Sather were also named First Team All-Region. Allen, Woodring and Tyler Endicott were named to the Second Team.

Under head coach Kevin Gray, a former Fort Scott High player himself, the Tigers finished the season with a 13-6 record, a school record for victories. They won the team's first SEK championship -- the first time Independence didn't claim at least a share since 2002 -- since the program was established in 2000 and advanced to the Class 4A State Quarterfinals for the first time.
