Grover William Greer, 49, Richards, Mo., passed away at his home on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, following a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 21, 1962, in Nevada, Mo., to Paul James Pettibon and Lily Marie Greer Pettibon. He married Patty E. Spurgeon in 1982 in Nevada, and she survives of the home.
Grover attended Franklin School and Nevada High School. He worked as a mechanic and hauled hay. Grover was a lifelong resident of Richards. He was a member of the Clayton Christian Church, enjoyed working on his cars, spoonbill snagging and playing with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Patty, of the home; three children, Renee Brooks and her husband, Kevin, Richards, Mo., Eric Greer and his wife, Keri, Jerico Springs, Mo., and Anna Greer, of the home in Richards; seven grandchildren, Paul and Lillian Greer, Tristen, Olivia, and Lexus Shepherd, and Thomas and Colton Brooks; three brothers, Bill Greer, James Pettibon, and John Pettibon, all of Richards; one sister, Linda Hoskins, Nevada; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Debbie Kigar and Carolyn Harms.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of God Holiness, Deerfield, Mo., on Friday Nov. 16, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield. Friends may call now and until noon on Friday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
