Fort Scott wins match but loses goalkeeper
PAOLA, Kan. -- Fort Scott High School's soccer team bounced back from Tuesday's shutout loss at Riverton to beat Paola, 4-1, Thursday in the final match of the regular season.
But during the game, senior goalkeeper Brett Allen, who has been a starter since his freshman season, suffered a broken leg and will miss the upcoming Class 4-3-2-1-A Regional Tournament that begins Monday. Clayton Hixon took over in goal and is likely to be the starter when the Tigers play their next match, either Monday or Tuesday.
Tyler Endicott scored twice for the Southeast Kansas League champion Tigers (11-5) while Chase Howser and Austin Sather each added goals.
The seeing meeting for the Regional Tournament took place at Fort Scott High School Saturday morning. The Tigers are expected to be one of the top four seeds and have a home match on Tuesday. If they are one of the top two seeds, they will face the winner of a Monday "play-in" match and also have an opportunity to host a Regional final on Thursday.
Results of the seeding meeting, when known, will be posted at www.fstribune.com/sports, on the Tribune's Facebook page (FSTribune) and/or on the Tribune's Twitter feed (@FSTribune).
