Over the past two weekends, the Fort Scott debate squad has found success, placing in the top three at two tournaments.

At Piper on Oct. 6, the Tigers finished third in sweeps with 13 wins based on their top four teams.

Leading the way were Gage Addington and Jesse Guerrero and Caleb Moore and Tyler Slinkard, finishing fourth and fifth.

Also contributing to the sweeps award were novice partners Charlotte Hutchison and Erin Thurston and Garrett Tatro and Camden Stiles.

This past weekend in Pittsburg, the squad improved finishing second in sweeps with 15 wins based on their top-four performing teams. In the open division, Jesse Guerrero and partner Zoe Karczewski led the way, pushing into quarterfinals as the No. 2 seed with a 4-1 record before losing, a news release said.

The novices once again contributed greatly to the sweeps award as the pairing of Jacob Pemberton and Trenton Sinn went unblemished with a 5-0 record, but finished second on a speaker point tie-breaker. Sebastian Loyd and Angelina Fasanella also put together a solid outing, ending the day in fifth place.
