Greyhound volleyball drops fifth straight match
KANSAS CITY, Mo . -- Fort Scott Community College's volleyball team lost its fifth consecutive match Friday night, falling to Longview in four sets in non-conference play.
The Greyhounds (15-8) fell 28-30, 25-19, 25-21, 25-22. Fort Scott individual statistics were not available from that match.
Wednesday night, the 'Hounds were swept by Allen in a Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division match at Iola, 25-14, 26-24, 25-20. This was the second victory of the season for the Red Devils over Fort Scott, the other coming in five sets at the Allen Tournament on Sept. 22. Allen is 2-3 in the conference and 11-11 overall. Fort Scott is 1-3 in the conference.
Ashley Bell had 10 kills for the Greyhounds in the dual with Allen while Jacy Ermel and Haylee Toothman each had 8. Taylyn Schwartz was credited with 30 assists and 10 digs while Sarah Williams had 12 digs.
Uniontown High School graduate Tayler Shook was credited with 16 digs for Allen.
The Greyhounds host Butler Wednesday at 6:30 at Arnold Arena in a Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division match-up. The Grizzlies (4-2, 22-3) are ranked No. 8 in the National Junior College Athletic Association's Division II poll. Fort Scott, once ranked in that poll itself, has not beaten a ranked team this season.
