Work of Fort Scott native selected for poetry anthology

Tuesday, October 9, 2012

Chatter House has released the names of poets for its 2012 "Reckless Writing Anthology: The Modernization of Poetry by Emerging Writers of the 21st Century." The anthology will be released in November and available through Amazon and other book retailers.

Submissions from around the country were received and a final group of 40 poets was selected for inclusion in the anthology. Fort Scott native Helen Townsend, now of Indianapolis, Ind., was one of the authors included.

The focus of the anthology is the evolution of poetry in the 21st century. The collection showcases more than 125 poems from previously published and new authors.

Townsend's selection, in concert with the other poets, recognizes the excellence of both poetic voice and style, a news release said. "Each individual author's writing style provides a window into the thriving poetic community of today. Taken together, the poems demonstrate a noteworthy breadth of styles and views upon universal experiences," Anthology editor Penny Lewis said in the release.
