Soccer downs Columbus, 4-1

Friday, October 5, 2012

COLUMBUS -- Fort Scott High School's soccer team improved to 10-3 on the season with a 4-1 victory over Columbus here Thursday in a non-league match.

Chase Howser scored two of the goals for the Tigers. Brett Allen scored on a penalty kick and Clayton Hixon scored the final goal.

The Tigers have won 10 or more matches in a season for the third time since the program was established in 2000. They were 12-6 last year and 11-6 in 2009. In both seasons, they won their 10th match in the 15th game of the season.

Fort Scott is idle again until Thursday, when they face Coffeyville in their final Southeast Kansas League match of the season.
