Kiwanis lieutenant governor visits

Thursday, October 4, 2012

On Thursday, Sept. 27, Pioneer Kiwanis met for the annual installation of officers and board of directors.

John Shields, lieutenant governor of Kansas Kiwanis Division 3, performed the honors. First to be saluted was outgoing President Mallory Allen.

Receiving a pin designating her as past president, Allen will now serve the club as a member of the board. Three other new board members were installed: Marlene Braker, Millie Karleskint and Jeanne Randles. Sally Eckles, Joyce Gobl and Gayle Sackett will continue on the board for another year.

Shields then individually installed the officers for 2012-2013.

Serving as club treasurer will be Jean Reeves, and club secretary will be Kelley Collins. These women have served in these offices in the past, and the club is grateful for their continued commitment.

Susan Messer will serve as president-elect during the coming 12 months, and Vickie Chaplin will lead the club as president.

Shields spoke to the officers, thanking them for accepting their leadership roles and encouraging them to inspire and be inspired by their fellow Pioneer Kiwanians. The coming year will bring such events as the 24th annual Chili Feed, Community Prayer Breakfast and fundraising efforts to fulfill the Kiwanis mission "to change the world, one child and one community at a time."
