Uniontown's golf team finished in third place in its first 18-hole tournament of the season at Woodland Hills Golf Course Monday afternoon. Eureka won the Uniontown Invitational team title with a four-woman total of 425 followed by Fredonia at 449 and Uniontown at 457.

The Eagles also had two medalists as Torrie Hathaway finished eighth after Girard's Trinadee Puckett won the scorecard playoff when both tied with scores of 110. Puckett shot 58 in the front nine and 52 on the back while Hathaway was more consistent with 55's on each nine.

Haven Bradbury shot 56-55--111 to take ninth place. Jordan Mason missed out on a medal by two strokes as her 61-56--117 put her in 13th place.

"Third place for us is a pretty good place," Uniontown head coach Jason Tourtillott said. "Our previous best was 231 (on nine holes), so that would have been a 462. That's a team best for us.

"Torrie's a first-year golfer and we've gotta be happy about her score. Haven's also a first-year golfer. But we still have a lot of things to work on. Our tee shots aren't very good. Our iron shots aren't very good."

Monica Ramsey rounded out the four-woman score with a 57-62--119, which tied for 16th. Anna Oberle shot 61-62--123 for Uniontown while Draven George finished at 81-83--164.

Fort Scott entered its junior varsity team. Ellen Harrison shot 67-55--122 for the Tigers followed by Ingrid Diaz at 58-68--126, Maddi Barbour at 60-68--128 and Emily Martin at 68-67--135.

Anderson County's Bailey Rockers won the individual crown with her 48-46--94. Rockers also won the Fort Scott Invitational on this course on Sept. 4.

Uniontown travels to Anderson County Monday for another 18-hole tourney. Regionals will be at Caney Valley on Oct. 8.
