'Hounds 2-2 at Allen Tourney

IOLA -- Fort Scott Community College volleyball, ranked No. 17 in NJCAA Division II, managed just a 2-2 record at the Allen Tournament here over the weekend.

The Greyhounds (15-4) dropped their first match on Friday to Neosho County in five sets, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-13. Ashley Bell had 18 kills for Fort Scott while Ali Cure had 13. Taylyn Schwartz handed out 56 assists. Kate Smith came up with 25 digs and Haylee Toothman had 21.

The 'Hounds swept Dodge City Friday, 25-18, 25-15, 25-13. Danielle Walker had 12 kills and Schwartz delivered 27 assists.

Saturday, Fort Scott led off with a 25-20, 25-17, 25-15 sweep of Labette. Toothman recorded 15 kills. Schwartz dished 32 assists. Toothman had 13 digs and Schwartz had 11.

Host Allen won the final match, 25-20, 25-21, 21-25, 22-25, 15-13. Toothman had 15 kills and 18 digs. Cure had 11 kills and 12 digs. Smith picked up 17 digs while Schwartz had 12 digs and 42 assists.

The Greyhounds go back into Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division play Wednesday. Seventh-ranked Johnson County will visit for a dual that begins earlier than usual, 5:30 p.m.
