Tuesday, September 18, 2012

COLONY -- Crest quarterback Kyle Hammond had his team ahead 30-0 on two touchdown runs and three TD passes before the Eagles got on the board in a Three Rivers League contest here Friday night.

The Lancers (2-1 TRL and overall) went on to a 58-24 victory over the Eagles (0-1, 1-1).

According to Crest's statistics, Hammond completed 13 of 16 passes for 172 yards and rushed for 300 yards and 5 touchdowns on 26 carries.

"Crest is a good ball club with a great player in Kyle Hammond," Uniontown head coach Chad Stroud said. "We knew going into the game that we had to contain him if we were to have a chance to be competitive and we failed to do that."

Uniontown's Skyler Riley scored the Eagles' first touchdown in the second quarter. Dakota Wiley threw to John Reed for the 2-point conversion.

Quarterback Dakota Wiley, who completed 8 of 17 passes for 82 yards, scored the Eagles' second TD on a thee-yard run in the third. He again hit Reed for the conversion.

Garrett Murrow rushed for 95 yards and Uniontown's final score in the fourth quarter. He also ran in the 2-point conversion.

Reed finished with 107 yards rushing and 6 catches for 60 yards. Gavin Miller made 12 tackles while Joe Barbosa had 10.
