RIVERTON, Kan. -- Uniontown's volleyball team swept Class 3A and 4A Crawford-Neosho-Cherokee League schools in a non-league triangular here Thursday night. The Class 2A Eagles defeated Columbus, 25-6, 25-8, Riverton, 25-19, 25-9, and Galena, 25-19, 25-11.
Hayden Rathbun had 3 kills while Brit Stokes handed out 7 assists against Class 4A Columbus. Mandie Ridge had 4 kills while Rathbun and Emily Shinn had 5 blocks each against Class 3A Riverton while Stokes handed out 3 assists. Rathbun recorded 6 kills against Class 3A Galena while Shinn and Rathbun had 3 blocks each and Stokes handed out 6 assists.
Head coach Jackie Hall said she made a lineup change and it took her team a bit of time to adjust to that.
"We did struggle a bit on our passing, and did make it a bit difficult for Brit (our setter) to get to balls," Hall said. "But she did a good job getting them out to our hitters, and our hitters made good choices."
Also on Thursday night, the Uniontown junior varsity played a triangular at Oswego. The Eagles beat Columbus, 25-21, 25-20, and Oswego, 25-13, 25-16.
Against Columbus, Ambar Abrego and Tyeesha Perry were credited with 5 kills each. Abrego also had 5 kills versus Oswego.
