Joanne Davenport, 64, of Girard, Kan., passed away at 6:32 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, in the Girard Medical Center in Girard.

Joanne was born May 18, 1948, in Parsons, Kan., a daughter of John L. and Martha B. (McElwain) Baldwin. She attended schools in Girard and graduated from Girard High School.

On Aug. 30, 1970, Joanne and Dwayne "Gabe" Davenport were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Farlington, Kan. Gabe preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2009.

Joanne worked at Western Insurance in Fort Scott, Kan., Markley Implement Company, Producer's Coop and Forms Manufacturing, all of Girard, and she currently owned and operated the Subway Restaurant in Girard. Joanne was a devoted and active member of the Girard community.

Joanne was a member of the United Methodist Church in Farlington. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Joanne enjoyed her family and decorating for all the holidays. She was a volunteer with Harry Hynes Hospice at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul, Kan., and she enjoyed visiting with the residents at Westridge Retirement Community in Girard.

Joanne is survived by two sons, Mike Davenport and his wife Jennifer of Fort Smith, Ark.; Joey Davenport and his wife Tasha of Girard; her grandchildren, Jacob, Gage, Maddie, Cami, and Gabi Davenport; a sister, Eleanor Peak and her husband Bob of Girard; numerous family members; very special friends and family; Bill and Cathy McWilliams and Gary and Carol Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Rev. Doug Amend officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m., until 8 p.m., Sunday at the Smith Carson Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 1 p.m., Sunday.
