Richard Wayne Cummings age 64 of Prescott, Kan., died Monday Sept. 3, 2012, at the Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, Kan. He was born on Dec. 2, 1947, at Newton, Kan., the son of Lester and Dolores Hamilton Cummings. He graduated from Sheldon High School in Sheldon, Mo. He was a veteran serving his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He Married Joyce Peery on Sept. 3, 1970. He was employed with the Linn County road crew as a heavy equipment operator, a member of the American Legion Hewitt New Post, the Linn County Fair Board, the V.F.W., the Heritage Union, and the Laborers Union No. 1243. Richard was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife Joyce of Prescott, Kan., a son Bill Cummings of Prescott, Kan., his mother Dolores Cummings of Fort Scott, Kan., a brother David Cummings of Mound City, Kan., two sisters; Janet White of Parker, Kan., and Judy Wilson of Uniontown, Kan.
There was cremation and a visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at the Linn County 4-H Building in Mound City, Kan.
