Uniontown wins home junior varsity tournament

FORT SCOTT -- Uniontown won the team title and had three of the top four medalists Thursday as they won a home junior varsity golf tournament at Woodland Hills Golf Course. Fort Scott High also took part, finishing third as a team.

The Eagles shot 231 followed by Girard at 244, Fort Scott 252 and Pomona-West Franklin 298. Yates Center had entrants but not enough to qualify for team scoring.

Uniontown's Monica Ramsey won the individual title with a 54 over nine holes. Teammate Haven Bradbury followed with a 57 and Anna Oberle tied with Girard's Paxton Boore for third at 58.

Fort Scott's best finisher was Ingrid Diaz with a fifth-place 59. Uniontown's Torrie Hathaway and Jordan Mason tied for eighth at 62 with Fort Scott's Hayden Sheldon.

Maggie Barbour finished in 11th place for Fort Scott with a 64. Maggie McDonald and Emily Martin tied for 13th with a 67 and Ellen Harrison shot 74 to finish 18th.

Rounding out Uniontown scores, Samantha Carey was 19th with 75, Stephanie Robinson tied for 25th at 80 and Draven George was 28th at 85.

Both school's varsity teams will take part in the Fort Scott Invitational Tuesday.
