Virginia Sue Wilson

Saturday, September 1, 2012

Virginia Sue Hardin Wilson was born July 18, 1925, to Glenn and Claribel Hardin in Nevada, Mo. Following World War II, she married Neil Gregg Wilson, in Nevada, on June 16, 1946, and relocated to Houston, Texas, in 1950.

Sue was a member of Memorial Women's Club and Memorial Methodist Church in Houston. Sue and Neil traveled extensively, both in the United States and abroad before retiring to McAllen, Texas, in 1986. Sue was a member of the Eastern Star and a longtime member of McAllen Methodist Church in McAllen until 2006 when she and Neil moved back to Houston to be nearer their children and grandchildren.

Sue was a kind and gentle soul and generous to a fault. She will be missed by all who had the good fortune to have known her. She was an accomplished artist and gourmet cook and was particularly proud to have saved the life of a close friend in McAllen.

After a long illness, Sue passed away at her home in Houston on Aug. 27, 2012.

Sue is survived by sons, John and Mike; daughters-in-law, Karon and Denise; grandchildren, Grey, Stephanie and Jennifer; and great-grandson, Vance.

Services will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home at 10 a.m., Sept. 5. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Cancare Inc. at 9575 Katy Freeway, Suite 428, Houston, Texas 77024 or online at cancare.org.
