Mary Ann Shane Jauernig, age 81, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Mercy Hospital.

She was born May 20, 1931 in Seward, Neb., the daughter of James Mashek and Mary Hrdmas Mashek. Mary Ann was first married to Frank Ulysses Shane on April 19, 1952. He preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1980. She married Frank Don Jauernig on Sept. 4, 1982.

The couple made their home in Stuart, Neb., from 1982 until 2007 when they moved to Fort Scott.

She loved to garden, especially with flowers. She also loved to travel and enjoy the sights and sounds of Branson, Mo.

Survivors include her husband, Frank, of the home; one son, Richard Shane, Fort Scott; a daughter, Mary Neal and Husband Don of Gardner, Kan.; two brothers, James Mashek and Emil Mashek and wife Carmen, all of Richards, Mo. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Heather Scherger and husband Allan and Jason Goans; three great-grandchildren, Allie, Caleb and Ashlyn Scherger; nieces and nephews.

Rev. Kevin Moyers conducted funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial followed in the U.S. National Cemetery.
